Prenatal Exercise

There are a lot of myths surrounding exercise and pregnancy – As we’re fully qualified to work with pregnant and post-natal women, we would like to address those once and for all.

Whilst you may well have to make some changes to your exercise regime (you should probably cut back on your kickboxing...), the best thing you can do during your pregnancy is maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Extensive research has shown that regular exercise and increased muscle strength can help alleviate many of the side effects of pregnancy:

  • Ease back pain
  • Reduce swelling
  • Lower Blood Pressure
  • Regain your figure more quickly after giving birth

recent study even suggests that gentle exercise whilst pregnant can have a positive impact on the development of your baby.

Postnatal Exercise and Weight Loss

Advice on how soon you can begin to exercise after pregnancy varies (depending on who you speak to), but the general consensus is that you’re okay as soon as you and your body feel ready (usually around about 6 weeks, although this can be longer if you’ve had a caesarean).
